Akereos Capital (“Akereos”), a leading European investment banking firm focused on the energy transition, is pleased to announce the appointment of Fil Panovski as Managing Director, Head of M&A.
Fil joins Akereos after more than 12 years at Evercore, where he was a senior member of the Utilities, Infrastructure and Transport team. He is a recognised expert in energy transition M&A, with a particular focus on renewables—advising developers, independent power producers (“IPPs”), private equity firms and infrastructure investors globally.
His track record includes advising on landmark transactions such as TPG’s establishment of Matrix Renewables, CVC DIF’s acquisition of ib vogt, iCON Infrastructure’s acquisition of Wind Estate, and the sales of Element Power and Solarcentury to Statkraft. Most recently, he also advised Low Carbon on strategic options across the capital structure.
Fil also has deep expertise in the bioenergy sector, having advised Schroders Greencoat on the acquisition of Templeborough Biomass Power Plant, Nuveen on the sales of Margam Green Energy Plant and Sleaford Renewable Energy Plant, and iCON Infrastructure on acquiring a 49% stake in Green Recovery Projects from FCC.
Earlier in his career, Fil held roles in the M&A teams at Goldman Sachs and Rothschild.
Fil’s appointment is part of Akereos’ strategic growth plan to expand its energy transition offering in Europe. It follows a series of recent senior hires, including Santander’s Will Evans and Macquarie’s Toby Ingram as Managing Directors in Senior Debt Advisory and Private Capital respectively.
